Coming Up: February 23rd is the monthly Birthday Party at Parkland skilled nursing facility, 1000 SW 16th Ave. Help sing, serve and eat cake. Then drop your “Salty Service” slip in the plate next Sunday. March 1st is our next date to serve dinner at St. Francis. Please sign up on the bulletin board in back of the Sanctuary. March 6th will be the next meeting of the Women of the Church at the home of Florence Van Arnam. All ladies are welcome. March 8th will be the next monthly men’s breakfast, held 8:30 a.m. at the 43rd Street Deli on Williston Road.
NOTES: SWUMC Children’s Lental Project – Beginning February 28th and continuing through Lent we will collect a “silver” offering (i.e., your loose change). Funds collected will be used by our children for a Heifer International animal purchase. Please join our kids to help families lift themselves from poverty. LOOK AROUND! We are careful to follow the codes for a handicap accessible building, but there are still things that we could do to make our buildings more user friendly. With that in mind, please look around as you are in any of our buildings. For instance, there isn't a railing in the bathrooms in the Hayes Building. In the back of the sanctuary is a box to put your suggestions in. We will be using the proceeds from the Valentine Dinner to make our buildings more easily accessible. Any monies left over from the improvements will go to the budget. Thank you for your help. Betty Williams announced that she would be updating and preparing the 2012 Church Directory. Changes should be submitted as soon as possible. SALTY SERVICE CARD REMINDER: Now salty services must be reported to Conference as an item of Discipleship. This item now is as important as other items that are reported. It is important for our Church to receive Discipleship credit. Cards are provided in the pews. Please place a card in the collection plate whenever any service is performed. The church’s emergency food locker for the needy is always in need of more food. Please help us keep food on hand for this purpose. Items need to be non-perishable and preparation free. If you can, bring such things as pop-top cans of beanie weenies, Beefaroni, chili, protein bars, trail mix, cheese, peanut butter crackers, small bottles of water, juice, etc. A collection place is provided in the sanctuary.
